The Alzheimer Society’s education programs, website and other resources help individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias understand the disease and the community resources available.
First Link®: An early intervention program that connects people living with dementia to the Alzheimer Society for services and support. The program reduces barriers by ensuring people are connected to key supports at the time of diagnosis or as soon as possible after a diagnosis is made.
Seeds of Hope Family Learning Series: An educational series offered online at http://www.ASANTCafe.ca and designed to reflect the progression of dementia at all stages. Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s: A family-friendly way to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer Society. The Walk helps create positive memories for those living with dementia and is a key fundraising event in Fort McMurray. The event happens annually in June.
The Alzheimer Society also participates and partners in community events such as Walk On – A free walking program for Seniors to attend at MacDonald Island Park, and Carpet Bowling for Seniors 55+ at MacDonald Island Park in the Nexen Energy Fieldhouse.
